Mêlée in Iraq

AMID
trumpet of possession of WMDs by Saddam Hussein – who was eventually put to
gallows – almost four years have passed since the US occupied oil rich
country of Iraq.
About half a million Iraqis have since been killed and Iraqis’ resistance
against occupation is mounting making the world community cry out for
immediate end to the occupation.
President Bush’s Iraq policy has cost his Republic Party lose control of
both the House of Representatives and the Senate in the mid-term polls.
The ratio of body bags returning back home is on the rise raising resentment
and opposition to Bush administration’s Iraq policy.
US occupation of Iraq and the subsequent process of genocide that the
American and coalition forces have let loose in the oil rich country has
evoked global censure.
Mostly, it is said by every pragmatic nation that President Bush’s policy on
Iraq was wrong and detrimental to peace, security and stability of the
Middle East.
The war coalition is frittering away and many of its partners have either
withdrawn their troops or in the process of doing so.
There is growing opposition to the continuity of occupation of Iraq the
world over. US Congress is squeezing financial support to President Bush’s
war in Iraq.
It’s, therefore, time that the Capitol Hill should pause and ponder over the
Iraqi scenario in the interest of humanity.
The bloodshed taking place in the war-torn country is unprecedented. Hardly
any day passes without scores of casualties.
American and coalition States’ soldiers are falling prey to the determined
resistance being put up by the Iraqi masses, who have been deprived of their
freedom, security and dignified living.
At the same time, the US has failed to redeem its pledges of milk and honey
in the post Saddam era.
On the contrary it’s blood and blood that the Iraqi people are witnessing.
With such an awful scenario, we feel that there no logic and justification
for the US to persist with the occupation of Iraq – any more.
Thus, the best way for peace around the world and to create ideal environs
for the good of the humankind is – to make an exit – as early as possible.●
