Pakistan to Host Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers on May 15-17
By Maria A Khan 'Pakistan Times' Diplomatic Correspondent

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will host the 34th session of Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers here on May 15-17, with specific focus on issues confronting the Muslim countries.

Over 600 delegates are expected to attend the conference to be held at Jinnah Convention Centre in Islamabad, Foreign Office sources said on Friday.

The conference will discuss ways and means to resolve the issues of Palestine, Iraq, Iran and Kashmir in line with President Musharraf’s “new initiative” for the Middle East.

The conference meets once a year to review the implementation of decisions taken within the framework of policy defined by the Islamic Summit.

It is attended by the foreign ministers of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) member states, OIC Secretary General and specialized bodies of the OIC.●
