Muslims, Islam being Wrongly Linked with Terrorism: German Envoy
Pakistan Times National News Desk

ISLAMABAD: German Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Guner Mulack Wednesday said that Islam and Muslims are wrongly being linked with terrorism by some quarters in West after the 9/11 incident.

"Islam is not the religion of violence, we should be very careful to mix religion with terrorism. Terrorism has not been invented by the muslim world, we have terrorism everywhere", the Ambassador told a private television channel.

"We should not fall in the trap of extremists to adopt this idea", he said adding the religion of Islam is as peaceful as other religions are.

The Ambassador who is also the Commissioner of his country for dialogue with Islamic world said after the terrible happenings of 9/11 and its affects on the mind-set in the Western world the people thought to learn more about the muslim world.

"We have to try to strengthen our traditional good relations which we have with so many countries in the muslim world", he added.

He said the Problem of Palestine is the root cause of disturbance in Middle East adding "When we analyze the root causes of terrorism or of this general malice of frustration we will find many many reasons for it."

What is happening in the Palestinian territory, in Lebanon and Iraq or somewhere else is communicated into all of the muslim world through satellite televisions and when they see these pictures they do have a negative impact or affect on the mind-set specially of frustrated young muslims all over the world, he said.

Then they feel of injustice, of double standards and victimization he said adding such sentiments are rapidly spreading through the satellite channels and that is a regrettable aspect.

"We have to find solution to the underline problems and if we are not able to do that , extremism will grow more and more", he observed.●
