Pakistanis laid to rest in India

LAHORE: The bodies of seven
victims of Samjhota tragedy are being brought to Pakistan by road and would
reach at Wagah border late Wednesday night.
According to Pakistan Railways sources here, Indian Railways officials have
intimated that 20 bodies have been identified of which 14 belong to
Pakistan.
Seven bodies have been sent by road and would reach at Wagah late tonight at
around 11:00pm. These dead bodies are of Syed Iftikhar Ali, Ashraf Jahan
(his wife), Mehak (daughter), Hasan Ali, Izhar Hussain, Razia Sultan
(relatives).
Pakistan Railways have arranged ambulances besides transportation for the
relatives of the deceased accompanying the dead bodies.
From the Wagah the bodies would be taken to old airport wherefrom they would
be airlifted by C130 to Hyderabad and Karachi.
The sources said two officials of Pakistan Railways who have gone to India
are in constant contact with Railways authorities here and any further
information provided by them in connection with identification of the
deceased, injured would be immediately disseminated.
Federal Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Chairman Railways Shakeel
Durrani are themselves supervising all the arrangements in this connection.
It may be mentioned 68 persons were killed when fire sweptthrough two
coaches of Samjhota Express following two blasts near Panipat late on Sunday
night.

According to Pakistani railways officials, the seven dead bodies to a
Hyderabadi family of Tasleem Khan have been laid to rest in India.
Tight Security in India
And a report from New Delhi says that tightening the security measures at
Old Delhi Railway Station, railways officials at New Delhi decided Wednesday
not to allow entry of people other than passengers at the platform in Old
Delhi Railway station from where Samjhauta Express leaves for Pakistan.
The passengers will also not be allowed to carry more than 40 kg luggage and
two secret cameras have also been installed on platform.
The Railways has also decided not to attach general compartments on the
train. The railways officials have set up a special counter at Old Delhi
Railway Station.
"Yes, we have taken these measures keeping in mind the security aspect,"
said CPRO, Northern Railway, Rajiv Saxena.●
