LONDON (UK): A prominent
Pakistani businessman Muhammad Muzaffar Chowdry was elected as the new
President of UK-Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the annual
elections of the body held here on Sunday.
Chowdhry is a Director in the Bestway Group of Industries which has
extensive investments in Pakistan and is also the Chief Executive of MAP
Trading Limited,one of the biggest importers of quality rice in UK.
The elections took place during the annual general meeting of the body at
the Capital City Academy.
Apart from the new president, the 15-member body also elected Kamal Butt as
the vice-president,Ikram Khan as the Secretary-General, Mirza Nadeem Joint
Secretary and Ijaz Akhtar as the Treasurer while Barrister Zahoor Butt was
elected as the Chairman.
Five new directors were also elected and they all belonged to the Barrister
Zahoor group. They included Barrister Zahoor, Haji Muhammad Siddiq,Arsallah
Khan Hoti, Shahjehan Shaukat and Muhammad Syed Ali. Outgoing President
Samiullah presented the performance report of the preceeding year.
Chowdhry said during his one-year tenure he would concentrate on ensuring
better co-ordination among the Pakistani business community based in UK.
."It is important for us to inter-act with each other on regular basis in
order to strengthen the body and have a greater say in our relations with
the British trading and business community."●
