34th Martyrdom Day of Kashmiris of London Today

MIRPUR (AJK): The 34th martyrdom day of the Kashmiri martyrs of London – Hanif Shaheed and Basharat Shaheed will be observed in Azad Jammu Kashmir on Tuesday – Feb. 20, with full respect and honor and with the renewal of the pledge to continue the mission of the Kashmiri martyrs till the liberation of occupied Jammu Kashmir from the Indian yoke and to materialize the dream of accession of entire Jammu Kashmir state to Pakistan.

Special ceremonies to observe the martyrdom day will be held at the mausoleums of Bashrat Shaheed at Palak and Hanif Shaheed in Mirpur Tuesday morning jointly under the auspices of various social, political and governmental organizations.

People from different walks of life will visit the mausoleums of the two martyrs including Basharat Shaheed at Palak, a village in outskirt of Mirpur city and Hanif Shaeed’s mazar at Markazi Eid Gah grave yard in the city where they would place the floral wreaths besides offering fateha for the departed souls.

Dignitaries from various parts of the district will later attend a special ceremony to be held at the local press club auditorium jointly by the local administration and the Kashmiri- NGO – The Friends of Mirpur in order to pay glorious tributes to the two Kashmir-born British nationals hailing from Mirpur Azad Kashmir – Bashrat Shaheed and Hanif Shaheed and their companion Ghazi Dalawar- who had made hostage the staff of the Indian High Commission in London this day in 1973 at the toy-gun point with the demand for the release of 90 thousand Pakistanis prisoners of war (POWs) during fall of Dacca in 1971.

“Like all previous years, the Kashmiri Martyrs day will be observed with the renewal of the pledge to continue the struggle for the completion of their mission of making the Kashmir freedom movement a complete success and to achieve the Kashmiris legitimate right to self determination”, said Sideeque Chaudhry, President The Friends of Mirpur, NGO, organizing the mega ceremony to observe the Martyrdom day.

“The ceremony will be attended by the representatives of the people belonging to all walks of life”, Chaudhry told reporters here Monday while unveiling the schedule of the program to observe the martyrdom day.●
