ISLAMABAD: A three-member
bench of the Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the non-recovery
of two allegedly kidnapped real sisters Humaira and Sumaira of Noshehra
Virkan and issued notice to Punjab Inspector General of Police to ensure
their recovery.
The bench directed that a team of senior police officers be constituted to
recover the girls without delay. It adjourned the hearing of the case for
three weeks.
The bench consisted of Justice Muhammad Nawaz Abbasi, Justice Mian
Shakirullah Jan and Justice M.Javed Buttar.
It expressed displeasure over the performance of the Gujranwala police and

some observations.
The Supreme Court has repeatedly granted time to the District Police Officer
Gujranwala to ensure the recovery of Sumaira and Humaira of Noshehra Virkan
along with a direction that the accused be arrested.
The case was taken up by the top court after the father of the sisters wrote
a letter to the Chief Justice, accusing three persons namely Shaukat,
Shahbaz and Zia Hassan Shah of kidnapping the girls.
Assistant Advocate General Punjab, Raja Saeed Akram appeared before the
court on notice and informed the bench about the progress of the case as
well as efforts being made by the District Police to recover the girls.
The DIG Gujranwala also appeared before the court and presented a detailed
report about the case. He informed the court that all the three accused
nominated by the father of the girls had been arrested and interrogated.
One of them Shahbaz was sent to jail as his bail was rejected by the court.
However, two of them namely Shaukat and Zia Hassan were granted bail by the
Lahore High Court.●
