Three Killed by Suicide Attack in NW Pakistan

DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three

the attacker were killed when a suicide bomber blew himself up near a police
chowki in Dera Ismail Khan city of NWFP province here on Monday.
Seven people including two policemen were also injured in the attack at the
police checkpost near Liaqat Park in Dera Ismail Khan in North West Frontier
Province, police officer Aslam Khattak said.
According to police sources, police had set up a roadblock at the end of a
street to frisk anyone entering the area but the bomber refused to be
searched and detonated explosives strapped to his body, which killed three
persons including attacker and police officer.
An earlier report had sais that a blast occurred in a street adjacent to
Liaquat Park here injuring two police officials and civilian.
Police officials have cordoned off the area.
The blood and body remains littered on blast scene indicates some death
also.
Six Nabbed
Meanwhile, Police and intelligence agencies have arrested Monday six
operatives of a gang of suicide attackers and recovered belts of explosives
from them.
Credible sources say, police and intelligence agencies conducted a raid in
Nawab Zafar Abbas Colony here and arrested six persons. Belts of explosives
have also been recovered from them.
The arrested men are believed to belong to Baitullah Mehsood group of local
Taliban based in South Waziristan.
The videos showing Taliban activities are stated to be found out from the
arrested persons. The arrested people were shifted to some unidentified
location by helicopter this morning.
According to government sources, the gang of arrested men had planned
suicide attacks in Dera Ismail Khan during Muharram-ul-Haram.
Rockets hit Bannu
And a report from Bannu says that as many as 11 people injured when
miscreants fired two rockets near an Imam Bargah in Bannu district of NWFP
province, reports said on Monday
The rockets landed in a house near an Imam Bargah 'Hussainia' in Hussainabad
area of the district, where worshippers were arriving to observe the
religious festival of Ashoura, police sources informed.
Dozens of people were inside the mosque at the time. Two of the wounded were
in serious condition, police said.
It is not immediately clear who fired the rockets or from where.
The injured were rushed to district hospital, Bannu.●
