Law on Spring Kite-Flying Festival 'Basant' inked in Punjab
'Pakistan Times' National News Desk

LAHORE: Chief Secretary Salman Siddique said Saturday that Punjab government has now reached a law regarding basant, under which the provincial government would consider allowing the kite flying for some hours or a few days only after being requested by district nazim.

However, if the people violated the law, then basant would come to an end once and for all.

Talking to media, the chief secretary said that the people have always been indulging in kite flying, but since last few years, it has developed into a gory practice owing to the sharp edge metallic chord being used with a blend of glass on it. This dangerous chord claimed many lives including children.

Under these circumstances, the government penned a new law to bring the kite flying under discipline. According to the law, the government would allow to celebrate basant on the plea by district nazim.●
