Eight killed in India held-Kashmir Truck Crash

SRINAGAR: Eight members of a marriage party were killed and 28 others hurt when a truck they were travelling in fell into a gorge in held Kashmir, police said Tuesday.

The driver of the truck failed to negotiate a sharp mountain turn, which led to the accident late Monday, a police spokesman said.

"Before landing at the bottom of the gorge the truck hit many boulders as it rolled down," he said, adding the accident took place in Udhampur district, about 230 kilometers (140 miles) south of the Srinagar. The injured were shifted to hospital.●
