Pakistan Cricket Board to get
control of two Stadiums

LAHORE: The Pakistan
Cricket Board (PCB) will soon get control of two main cricket stadia in the
Punjab province.
“The draft of MoU is being prepared and soon the PCB will sign a deed with
the Punjab government to get control of Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad and Pindi
Stadium, Rawalpindi to run the affairs” PCB Director Communication Dr Ahsan
Malik told reporters in the weekly press briefing on Tuesday.
National Cricket Academy (NCA) Aaqib Javed also attended the briefing.
The director said that the PCB had started the restructuring of its
management, on the recommendations of human resource company, and several
posts had been advertised in the national dailies.
Moreover, the director said the implementation on another report submitted
by an audit company, which audited the PCB’s accounts was yet to be
finalised.
“PCB is expecting the new constitution of the PCB would be approved by its
patron’s President Gen. Pervez Musharraf well before the stipulated time of
Jan 31”, he said.
He said some delay had been made in this connection mainly because the
attorney general was in Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.
Now the attorney general was in Pakistan and the PCB chairman Dr Nasim
Ashraf had met him. The attorney general had assured an early approval of
the constitution to meet the stipulated date, he said.
“The new constitution would be placed on the official website of the
board”,he added.
Meanwhile, former Test medium-pace bowler Aqib said he was ready to work
with Shoaib Akhtar, if the later needed any assistance from him.
“Unfit Shoaib is returning back home along with Umar Gul from South Africa
on tomorrow,Wednesday”,he added.
Aaqib said fast bowlers were injury prone throughout the world and though
Shoaib had little more problems in this connection, he was a national asset.
Aaqib had a claim that flaws of any player could be removed at any age and
he would try to remove the flaws of Salman Butt, Imran Farhat and others.
He said the six more players, who were banned for suspect bowling action in
the domestic cricket were improving their action in the NCA.
He said Pakistan Under-19 teams will be visiting Australia, England and
Bangladesh this year and the NCA would have a focus on to prepare best
possible team.●
