Pakistan to send Players for One-Day series in South Africa
'Pakistan Times' Sports Desk

ISLAMABAD: A host of players are being considered for strengthening the Pakistan team for the One-Day series against South Africa.

"Such players as fast bowlers Shabbir Ahmed and Rao Iftikhar, allrounders Abdur Razzaq and Shahid Afridi and batsman Imran Nazir are in the run for the One-Day series in South Africa next month", sources in the Pakistan Cricket Board say.

The third and last Test of the Pakistan-South Africa series will start at Cape Town on Friday with teams squared at 1-1 after two Tests. The five-match One-Day series will follow the Test rubber.

"The selectors and tour management committee are in constant touch for the One-Day series and names of a number of players are under consideration", the PCB sources said.

There is least likelihood that a player will be sent specifically for the last Test notwithstanding the fact that fast bowlers Shoaib Akhter and Umer Gul are on their way back home from the South African tour, they said.●
