Punjab amends law on construction of Commercial Buildings

LAHORE: The law regarding the construction of commercial buildings has been amended in Punjab, under which no one would be allowed to build marriage hall on land less than three kanals.

Department of local bodies issued Saturday a gazette notification of Punjab Local Government Commercialization Rules 2006, for which committees have been instituted on various levels of district, tehsil and development authorities.

Keeping in view the factors of traffic, public trends and other future planning tools, these committees would decide the commercial use of any place.

According to rules, no commercialization would be allowed in residential areas set up after 1995. Besides, no marriage hall would be allowed to be constructed on places less than three kanals.●
