Guru’s hanging may set Kashmir
on fire: Farooq Abdullah
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk
SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied
Kashmir, Chief Patron of National Conference and former Chief Minister of
puppet regime, Farooq Abdullah has warned that the hanging of Mohammed Afzal
Guru would turn him into a hero and provide massive boost to freedom lovers.
He argued during a program at a private TV Channel that not giving clemency
to Guru would make him a hero from a common man for a long time to come.
He said it would also cause an increase in the insurgency in Jammu and
Kashmir.
Farooq Abdullah, insisting that Afzal was innocent, emphasized that another
consequence of hanging Afzal would be the damage to the India-Pakistan peace
process.
The National Conference leader even feared a severe backlash from the
Kashmiri people in case Afzal was hanged.
He was also apprehensive that Afzal's hanging could put India up in flames
and destroy the relationship between the Hindus and Muslims.
He said India would have to face ever-fierce turmoil as an aftermath of
Afzal Guru's execution.●
