Gas pipeline blown up in SW Pakistan

DERA BUGTI: A gas pipeline
in southwestern Pakistani district of Dera Bugti was blown up on Monday as
explosives planted by unknown persons detonated, according to the website of
local newspaper the News.
A part of the main gas pipeline in Dera Bugti, some 250 km southeast of
Baluchistan provincial capital Qetta, was damaged in the blast, disrupting
gas supply to the region, said the report quoting officials.
No casualty was reported.
Security forces reportedly have cordoned off the area to investigate the
incident, and a team has been called to repair the damaged pipeline.
The blast came as the whole country was celebrating Eid-ul-Azha,a
traditional festival for Muslims.
An earlier report had said that a gas pipeline from Loti gas field in Dera
Bugti to Pirkoh was blown up on Monday.
Unknown saboteurs had planted explosives with 18” diameter gas pipeline
supplying gas to Pirkoh area. A portion of the pipeline was damaged in the
blast disrupting gas supply to Pirkoh and adjoining areas.
Security forces have cordoned off the area to search for the saboteurs.
A team has been called from Sui for repair of the damaged pipeline.
