Gas prices in Pakistan to be cut by 7% from Jan. 1
'Pakistan Times' National News Desk

ISLAMABAD: The government is likely to cut down gas prices by 6 to 7 percent from January 1.

Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources (MP&NR) sources told that the OGRA proposal, suggesting a cut by 10 percent in the natural gas prices for all categories of consumers, was received in the ministry about two weeks ago, which in turn has been sent to the prime minister for his final approval.

An MP&NR high official said that the proposal for a 10 percent cut in gas prices was lying in the prime minister secretariat and it was up to him to take a decision on it.

Prime minister secretariat sources told that this decision was expected on January 1.

Sources further told that the reduction would be around 6/7 percent instead of the proposed 10 percent and it would apply to all categories of consumers—industrial, commercial and domestic.●
