ISLAMABAD: Light to moderate rain was reported in different parts of Pakistan, while the mountainous areas received snowfall, turning the weather chillier.

The Meteorological Office has forecast rains/thunderstorms for next two to three days.

The wet spell in Karachi continued on Monday as water accumulated at various roads of the metropolis including water pools at some key traffic arteries of the city disrupting the traffic flow. Shahrah-e-Faisal and other main roads in the city experienced traffic jams due to rainwater accumulation.

A large number of schoolchildren couldn’t reach to their schools due to rainy morning in Karachi.

Over dozen motorcycle riders injured in mishaps at slippery roads of Hyderabad during the rainfall. The weather turned chillier in the city after rainfall with fast blowing winds.

The rain also brought down temperature at Mirpur Khas, Larkana, Dadu and Badin districts.

The rainfall also continued in Lahore, Sialkot and other districts of Punjab, which has made the weather chillier. The rainfall has also caused disruption in traffic flow at key roads of Lahore.

The rainfall in Peshawar and adjoining areas and snowfall in northern areas brought down the temperature in the region. Peshawar has received 14.2 millimeters rainfall during last two days.

The wet spell has affected Hajj and international flights from Peshawar while all flights to Islamabad have been cancelled.

Snowfall has been started in Quetta and adjoining areas in Balochistan after the rainy spell, affecting the power supply system in the area. The gas pressure was also decreased in Quetta as the weather turned chillier, which has multiplied people’s problems in the city.

Turbat region in Balochistan was receiving rains for last two days, which has disrupted communications in the area and the land link of Turbat and Panjgur was severed with other parts of the country.

Several buses traveling from Karachi to Turbat have been stranded at Shadikor and Wadekor rivers with hundreds of passengers facing shortage of food and severe wintry conditions.

The rainfall has damaged some portions of RCD Highway that links Karachi to Quetta and Karachi to Gawadar Makran Coastal Highway causing traffic suspension at both roads to Balochistan.

The wet spell and snowfall would continue for two to three days, the met department officials said.
