Mirwaiz urges India to reciprocate Pakistan Proposals
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk

ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Mirwaiz Umar Farooq fully supporting Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf’s proposals on Kashmir and has called upon India to positively respond to these proposals to settle Kashmir dispute on durable lines.

According to Kashmir Media Service he was addressing a largely attended delegate session of APHC in Srinagar. Praising Pakistan’s proposals of demilitarisation, self-governance and joint-management, Mirwaiz said that the proposals truly reflected Kashmiris’ aspirations and could pave the ground for a final Kashmir settlement if reciprocated by India.

Paying tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs, he said that it was due to their sacrifices that the Kashmir issue had been centre-staged at the international level.

Condemning in strong terms the human rights violations by Indian troops, he urged India to put an immediate end to Kashmiris genocide.

Expressing grave concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris, he called upon the international community to mount pressure on India to release the detainees forthwith.

Mirwaiz prevailed upon India to abolish all the black laws enforced in occupied territory to suppress Kashmiris’ voice for their basic rights.

Coming hard on pro-Indian politicians, he appealed the people to beware of their mal intentions. Mirwaiz informed the delegates that a high-level delegation of APHC was about to visit Pakistan where it would hold talks with the leaders of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistani leadership.

APHC leaders, Maulana Abbas Ansari and Bilal Ghani Lone also addressed the session.

Earlier, the Hurriyat Conference unanimously passed a six-point resolution pledging to continue liberation struggle. The resolution remarked:

Kashmir was a human and political problem not a border or territorial conflict between India and Pakistan and that this problem could be resolved in accordance with the aspirations of Kashmiri people.

Custodial and extra judicial executions committed by Indian forces should be independently probed and all draconian laws revoked.

The widows, destitute and orphans of Kashmir should be rehabilitated and humanitarian organizations should look into the matter.

Hurriyat also condemned the puppet regime’s policy of land lease saying the regime had no powers to take such decisions till Kashmir issue was resolved.●
