'Pakistan Times' NWFP Bureau

MANSEHRA: A spell of intermittent rain and snowfall has overtaken Azad Kashmir, Mansehra and Balakot causing severe distress to the earthquake victims over there, while the torrential rains at Chaman, Loralai, Pishin and Mastung areas of Balochistan have flooded the rivers and storm water drains and several areas remained struck by power outage since yesterday night.

District Mansehra, Balakot, Naran, Saran valley, Ponch valley and the valley of Alai are in the grip of sporadic heavy showers since last two days, while snowfalls at the mountains have also started, when Naran and Lake Saiful Malook recorded 1 to 4 feet of snowfall.

District Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawalakot witnessed the maiden spell of showers and snowfall of the winter season for the third day continuing, turning the weather extremely cold, which has further piled up problems for the quake victims in these areas still left in their tattered tents.

Due to rains and slippery roads at Muzaffarabad, a speedy truck at Chehla Bandi loosing control rammed through a Suzuki pickup, a passenger van and a motorcycle, resulting in one person killed and two grievously injured.

Gilgit is also in the grip of light rains, which continued for the whole night.
