13th annual Gemstone exhibition kicks-off

PESHAWAR: The 13th annual
Gemstone exhibition has started here in a local hotel by All Pakistan
Commercial Exporters Association (APCEA) in collaboration with Export
Promotion Bureau of Pakistan (EPB).
A number of countries including Germany, France, United States, Britain,
Holland, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Indonesia,
Switzerland, Belgium, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri Lanka, China, Spain
and Nepal would also participate in the show.
The show is likely to go long way in the introduction of the indigenous
mineral products in world market and would also help find new markets in the
world.
These precious stones are emerald, ruby, pink topaz, lapis lazuli,
tourmalines, kunzite, garnet, Serpentine, fluorite, aquamarine and peridot.
The precious stone of emerald has three mines in Mingora, Gujar Kelly, and
Shamozai areas of the district Swat. Ruby is found in Kashmir is the most
precious stone while pink topaz of Katlung and Mardan is a unique stone
having no parallel in the world.
The precious stones enjoy special link with the horoscope and are considered
as signs of good and luck and are used in the manufacturing of scientific
instruments and in different industries these days.●
