The Black Day

PAYING
homage to the martyrs and to draw attention of the comity of nations towards
illegal and illicit occupation of Jammu and Kashmir by India—Kashmiris
observed Black Day all-over the world on October-27.
It was on this day in 1947 that Indian troops landed in Srinagar with hefty
arms and arsenal as part of the Indian nefarious plan to subjugate Kashmiris.
Ever since the gruesome invasion of a part of the Himalayan State of Jammu &
Kashmir, India has been trying to mislead the world public opinion about
genesis of the problem, which is nothing but a question of the right to
self-determination for millions of people, who are the bona fide owners of
the picturesque realm, pragmatically phrased as the ‘Heaven of Earth’.
When analyzed with truthful approach and parameters, the authentic reality
which would surface is; there is concrete evidence that India occupied the
State of Jammu and Kashmir in complete disregard to the aspirations of the
Kashmiri people.
Rulers in Delhi pretend that they sent troops to Srinagar with spiteful
‘backing’ of the Hindu Maharaja of the State. Yet, the fact remains that
Kashmiris had given their verdict with one-voice on July-19, 1947 to join
Pakistan.
Thus, forcible occupation of Kashmir by India was a complete negation of the
principles that governed partition of the subcontinent and especially the
fate of the princely States.
Communal composition and geographical proximity were the major determinants
to decide about the future of these States but in the case of Kashmir this
principle was allowed to be trampled under a deep-rooted conspiracy to
deprive Pakistan of its legitimate and strategic share.
It was because of this gross injustice that people of Kashmir stood up
against aggression and got some portion of their territory liberated.
They would have secured liberation of the entire territory but India went to
the United Nations, which also recognized the disputed nature of the State
and pledged to decide its future through a free, fair and impartial
plebiscite.
Yet, over half a century has elapsed but Kashmiris are still waiting for the
plebiscite to seek their birth right of self-determination.
Their Intifada forced India to come to the negotiating table but it is
adopting dilly-dallying tactics to avoid meaningful discussions for
resolution of the issue.
By observing Black Day, Kashmiris have once again conveyed to India and the
world community that they would not sit at rest till realization of the
right, bestowed upon them by the Nature—like any other nation of the world.
.
Whereas, Pakistan has always extended full diplomatic and political support
to the Kashmiris’ cause at each and every fora of the world—we feel
optimistic that the new government in Azad Kashmir shall simultaneously give
impetus to the pivotal role—as the foremost task—its’ ought to undertake, to
get eroded the toxic propaganda, unleashed by India to deceive the global
opinion vis-à-vis the Kashmir Issue—with one wicked ploy or the other.●
