Smoking prohibition law to be functioned from Oct 28 in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Implementation on the law concerning prohibition of cigarette smoking in public places and transport will be made sure from October 18, a meeting of the four provincial heath departments held here on Saturday announced.

Federal Health Secretary Syed Anwar Mehmood presided over the meeting.

Regarding the law's implementation, the minister said the Supreme Court had issued permission to all provincial governments with special directives, which included ban on selling cigarettes to youngsters aging below 18 and establishment of cigarette-shops within 50-metre limits of all educational institutions across the country.●
