Salvage operation of sinking oil barge underway in Karachi
By Samina Qureshi 'Pakistan Times' Sindh Bureau

KARACHI: Karachi Port Trust (KPT) officials have said Saturday the salvage operation of the oil barge capsized near the Karachi Port was continued on second day.

The team of divers could not reach to the oil tanks of the barge by this morning due to large ocean waves, sources said.

KPT officials have said that the experts engaged in the salvage operation were clearing the path to reach the oil tanks on second day of the operation.

They said that the weather was better than the previous day as the work was continued without facing any obstacle.

KPT officials were however avoiding to take media men to the capsized oil barge, whereas no official has been nominated to provide information to the media.

Sources told Geo News that the rough weather has obstructed the salvage operation yesterday noon.

The divers team engaged in the operation was also facing difficulties in their work today.

The divers could not reach to the oil tanks due to rough weather and engaged in clearing the path to reach six oil tanks of the boat.
