Pakistan Telecom Consumers face
problem in dialing Zero

KARACHI: The Pakistan
Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) started providing its consumers
with international code-barring service. However, in some parts of the
country, some consumers complained facing problem while dialing Zero.
PTCL Deputy Chief Engineer Mohammed Farooq said that some consumers may face
problem while dialing zero only because that they do not know new codes,
adding, “however, the company did not receive any complaint in this regard
whatsoever.”
The Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) is providing
code-baring facility to its customers free of charge to help avoid misuse of
their telephone lines, a spokesman said here.
"With this facility, the consumers can block the national and international
direct calls as well as booking of calls from their telephones," he said in
a statement. Through this facility calls to mobile telephones and premium
rate service calls can be blocked, he added.
The PTCL spokesman advised the subscriber to keep the code barring facility
activated round the clock to get maximum benefit from it. He said the
customer can restore the facility anytime.
According to the spokesman, the usual procedure for code-barring facility
for telephone numbers starting with the prefixes of;
282, 227, 287, 210, 221, 217, 2295, 2218, 2296, 224, 223, 546, 444, 443,
559, 550, 546, 548, 547, 551, 552, 553, 554, 555, 4490, 4491 and 2480 is as
under:
To avail the facility of call booking, making call to mobile and nationwide
dialing, the customers are required to press *33*code*02#
· To make local calls only, press *33*code*04#
· To block local calls, call booking, call to mobile, nationwide dialing and
international dialing, press #33*code#
· To change code number, press *99*old code*new code#
The PTCL spokesman said that the code-barring facility can be obtained from
the divisional engineer phones of respective areas by submitting an
application.●
