PM Aziz registers name in updated Electoral Rolls

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has got his name registered in the updated electoral rolls for the next general election.

The Prime Minister filled and signed the registration form and got a receipt from the Secretary Election Commission Kunwar Dilshad here at the PM House.

The Prime Minister's name has been registered in the electoral lists of Gulburg, Lahore.

Talking to media, the Prime Minister said the campaign to update the electoral lists launched by the Election Commission was an important segment of the democratic system and the election process.

He said the accuracy of voter lists was a must to ensure the transparency of the election process.

The Prime Minister said the government is fully supportive of the Election Commission's campaign, adding that all eligible people should get their names registered in the electoral lists of their respective areas.

Prime Minister Aziz also assured the Election Commission of all-out cooperation of the federal, provincial as well as the district governments in the task.

He hoped that the people will fully participate in the registration process for successful holding of the next general election.

The Secretary Election Commission said that the registration will continue till September this year and the updated electoral lists would be published in May 2007.●
