KARACHI: Alliance for
Restoration of Democracy (ARD) and Muttehida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) Friday
agreed to present the no-confidence move against Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz
if the federal government does not resign by July 31, 2006.
The date for the no-confidence move will be announced after the deadline,
ARD and MMA central leadership said in joint press conference here on
Friday.
This decision was taken after meeting of ARD and MMA central leadership at
the residence of Makhdoom Amin Fahim.
MMA chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed, Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman, Makhdoom Amin Fahim
and Raza Rabbani were present in the meeting.
The opposition was completely united to struggle for restoration of genuine
democracy in the country, Makhdoom Amin Fahim said.
Shujaat Reax
Meanwhile, Pakistan Muslim League (Q) President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain
said Friday that no-confidence move against Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz
would turn into a full-fledged trust on him and those threatening the move
would avail nothing.
Shujaat Hussain, according to a statement issued from Muslim League House
here, said that those talking about no-confidence move should keep in mind
that the no-confidence move against NWFP chief minister could easily be got
passed because their members voted in favour of other candidates.
Chauhry Shujaat persuaded the opposition to be patient and wait for the next
general elections in which the nation would decide who it trusts.
He said that nation would distrust those who were good for nothing but
threaten and oppose for the sake of mere opposition.
Chaudhry Shujaat, expressing the grief over the loss caused by heavy
downpour in NWFP, directed the PML (Q) provincial President Ameer Muqam to
visit the affected areas and ensure provision of financial assistance to the
affectees.●
