Truck rams tractor-trolley killing 7 at Sheikhupura in Punjab

SHEIKHUPURA: A truck hitting tractor-trolley sent it crashing into Nala Dek (channel) near Midyali at Sheikhupura resulting in the death of at least seven labourers and injury to 15 on board.

Police told that a tractor-trolley loaded with iron bars, other domestic goods and carrying labourers was hit from behind by a truck at Nala Dek near Midyali, which losing control went crashing the bridge’s periphery into the Nala Dek, killing six labourers and wounding 15.

The bodies of only two among the dead have been retrieved, while the search was on for others.

Among the dead only one labourer named Mohammad Saleem has been identified, while among the wounded included Mubarak Ali, Ghulam Qadir, Abdul Rashid, Shahid, Khadim Hussain, Mohammad Iqbal and Abid.

Eight among the wounded have been admitted into the Sheikhupura Hospital.
Following the incident rescue teams and the police had reached the scene.●
