Fact-finding team set up for Guantanamo Pakistani Prisoners

PESHAWAR: Federal Interior Minister, Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao has said that a team for finding out the facts about Pakistani prisoners at Gunatanamo Bay jail has been constituted, which would be leaving for Guantanamo on July 19.

Following a meeting with the party workers here, he said to a private television channel that the government wanted to bring back home the Pakistanis imprisoned in Guantanamo Bay confinement and a team comprising of interior ministry officials would be leaving for Guantanamo Bay on July 19 in this regard.

He told that the team would collect facts about the Pakistani prisoners besides taking measures for bringing them back home.

Regarding Pakistani captives in Afghanistan, interior minister told that one more team would soon be leaving for Bagram in this regard.

Delineating on North Waziristan’s law and order situation, interior minister told that the government has appreciated the ceasefire offer from Taliban and wanted to resolve the issues through dialogues.

This was the reason of the government showing tolerance and patience despite attacks on security forces, he explained.●
