Meera: Gets Flat ‘NO’ in India

THE Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers [AMPTPP] has declined to look into Pakistani actress Meera's complaint that some scenes from the forthcoming film "Rocking Meera" were based on incidents in her life.

In a letter addressed to the actress's spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar, the Association expressed its inability to investigate the complaint as, what it says; "we are not really aware of any true life incident from the life and times of actress Meera."

"We regret our inability to be of any service to you in this regard, as we are really not aware of any true-life incidents from the life and times of actress Meera," the Association said.

Meera had last week filed a complaint with the Association of Motion Pictures and Television Programme Producers (AMPTPP) following reports that an English film "Rocking Meera" allegedly contained incidents from her real life.

In a letter addressed to the Association, Meera had urged AMPTPP to investigate the matter and arrange for a special screening of the film for her before permitting its release.

The Association, however, dismissed the matter as "personal and recommended it should be sorted out between the makers of the film and the actress.”

"It would be ideal for the actress herself, to have a meeting with director Param Gill and producer Lavanya Gill and either get the script narrated, or hold a screening of the film, to have a clear view on the subject matter and thereby give her consent for the same," the letter stated.

Meera, however, is not happy with the Association and plans to approach the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IPPA) on the issue.

Friends Again?

Meanwhile, least uptight by the Indian attitude, Meera who has two Bollywood films to her credit, says she has settled her differences with filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt.

"We are friends again. We will, of course, work again together," says Meera.
The differences between the two apparently improved during Bhatt's recent visit to Pakistan.

"Mahesh is a good professional director. He always keeps encouraging people," Meera said.

The actress was also enthusiastic about working in India, saying: "India is a good place to work in show business. There is a lot of scope."

Meera, who acted in Bhatt's Nazar, now has plans of producing a Bollywood flick too.
