ERRA meeting reviews pace of work in Quake-hit Azad Kashmir

MUZAFFARABAD (AJK): A high level meeting was held here Monday to review the various aspects of the reconstruction phase in the earthquake affected areas of Azad Kashmir.

The meeting was attended by the AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayyat Khan, Chairman Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (ERRA) Altaf Salim, Corps Commander Rawaplindi Lt.General Salah ud Din, Deputy Chairman ERRA Lt. General Nadeem Ahmed, AJK Chief Secretary Kashif Murtaza, GOCs Murree and Mangla, DG SEERA, civil and military high ranking officials.

During the meeting briefing was given on the role of survey teams role and its achievements, progress of surveys of damaged houses conducted with the support of Pakistan Army, updates about the Livelihood Cash Grant for vulnerable people, progress on establishment and functioning of SERRA and local coordinating teams, plan for the relocation of displaced people, Construction of official and residential buildings under the reconstruction Programme and development projects in Annual Development Programme ADP and improvement of major highways.

The officials also briefed about the master planning of quake hit Muzaffarabad city and rehabilitation of Health and Educational Institutions.

Addressing the meeting the chairman ERRA Altaf Salim stressed upon the concerned authorities engaged in the reconstruction phase to gear up the pace of work and move forward this comprehensive process in coordinated, integrated and disciplined manner to give maximum relief to the affectees.

Addressing on the occasion the AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikandar Hayyat Khan said that it is encouraging for us that the affectees have been returning to their places in the quake ravaged areas to take part in the reconstruction phase to ensure the revival of life in these areas with full swing.

The AJK Prime Minister said that restoration of roads communication was imperative to make sure the success and timely completion of reconstruction phase.●
