Date extended for opening bank accounts without CNIC & Documents

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan has extended the period of exemption allowed in opening of accounts in earthquake-affected areas in the absence of computerized National Identity cards and other documents from July 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006.

According to SBP announcement here Monday, in its BPD Circular No. 10, the Central bank has asked the Presidents/Chief Executives of all Banks/DFIs, referring to BPD Circular Letter No. 45 dated November 2, 2005 to comply with this amendment accordingly.

However, it explained that all other instructions on the subject would remain unchanged.●
