Desecration of mosque widely Condemned in held-Kashmir
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, the desecration of a mosque and beating of inmates by Indian troops, belonging to Dogra Regiment, at Zirhama, Sheikhpora, in Kupwara district, yesterday evening, has evoked widespread condemnations.

In a statement in Srinagar, the spokesman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) termed it an anti-Islamic act to hurt the religious sentiments of the Muslims. The JKLF said that the troops entered the mosque with their shoes on, ransacked everything tearing the copies of the Holy Quran and throwing these out on the road.

The JKLF spokesman said, the desecration of the mosque and holy books is tantamount to a brazen demonstration of Indian state-terrorism.

Protesting the desecration of the mosque by the troops, Jammu and Kashmir Peoples' Conference Chairman Bilal Ghani Lone, termed it as highly condemnable.

"The desecration of religious places by Indian troops has offended the religious sentiments of Muslims," said Lone. He also condemned the military firing on peaceful protesters after the incident, killing one student and injuring several others.

The Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association, while condemning the desecration, demanded stern action against the troops involved in the act.

The Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-e-Hurriyat, strongly denouncing the shameful act, said such sacrilegious attempts by Indian troops could not be tolerated. It also condemned troops' firing on peaceful protesters and termed it a glaring proof of stepped-up Indian state-terrorism in occupied Kashmir.●
