2 killed, 26 injured by troops fire in India held-Kashmir

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, two persons were killed and 26, including many students, injured, when Indian troops resorted to indiscriminate firing, on protesters, demonstrating, for the second day today, against desecration of a mosque and the Holy Quran by Indian troops in Zirhama area of Kupwara.

KMS reports that the demonstration was participated by over 15, 000 people, which was also subjected to heavy lathi-charge and excessive tear-gassing.

The entire district observed complete protest strike and people at various other places of the district took to the streets in protest demonstration.

APHC Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Bilal Ghani Lone, President of Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, High Court Bar Association and Jammu and Kashmir liberation Front, in separate statements, condemned in strong terms, the desecration of the mosque and molestation of a schoolgirl in Dooru by Indian troops.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Shabbir Ahmad Shah also denounced assault by Shiv Sena hooligans on senior Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani in Jammu city, yesterday.

They described the assault and arrest of Gilani as the worst example of the denial of freedom of movement and speech to the struggling Kashmiris.

Meanwhile, the troops, in their fresh act of state-terrorism, martyred one more Kashmiri youth, in a fake encounter, in Handwara area.●
