LONDON: British police carried out searches Saturday of the London workplaces of two terror suspects who were arrested in a massive raid on their home a day earlier, police said.

A spokeswoman for London's Metropolitan Police said the two "small" searches were in connection with the dawn raid Friday in east London's Forest Gate neighborhood, where police shot and
wounded one of the suspects.

"The searches have taken place within business premises in Tottenham and Whitechapel, where the two men arrested yesterday are employed," the spokeswoman said.

"The searches have been carried out with the full co-operation of their employers," she added.

Police said meanwhile they were granted warrants of further detention for the two men -- whom media reports said are brothers from an ethnic Bangladeshi Muslim family -- following a hearing at Bow Street Magistrates Court.

The warrants will allow them to be detained until Wednesday June 7, a police spokesman said.●
