Pakistan Peoples Party-P, MMA to decide Opp leader during Budget Session

KARACHI: Both the major Opposition political parties in the Senate, Peoples Party Parliamentarian and Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) after engaging in a tug-of-war to clinch the prestigious office of leader of the opposition for about two months have decided to solve the issue through mutual understanding during the budget session, it is learnt.

Sources privy to the PPP told news agency Inp that both the PPP and MMA have intensified their contacts to settle down the issue amicably, which is lingering for the past two month, so that they could raise their voice vociferously against the incumbent rulers policies in the upper house.

The sources said that the PPP top leadership from abroad is exerting pressure to its leaders in Pakistan for hammering out the matter prior to the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) being convened on July 2 to give as final approval to the Charter for Democracy (CoD) by the component parties of the alliance.

Other small political parties in the upper house also wanted the solution of the matter at lest during the budget session so that they could chalk out a joint strategy for the forth coming federal budget to be announced on July 5 in the National Assembly to be later on table in Senate.

A meeting of the PPP and MMA is expected with in next couple of days, the source said and pinned hope that the matter regarding the leader of opposition will be decided amicably.●
