MUZAFFARABAD (AJK): The
Muslim Conference’s hostile group declaring itself as Haqiqi Muslim
Conference may soon reconsider its ‘estrangement’ with their mother party,
internal party sources said.
On Thursday more than eight central leaders of ruling Muslim Conference had
rebelled against the distribution of party tickets to polls candidates
alleging ‘injustice’.
The group consists of sitting ministers Raja Abdul Qayyum, Ch Muhammad Aziz,
Mufti Mansoorurahman, PM’s Inspection Commission chairman Sardar Altaf
Hussain Khan, Sardar Ghaffar Khan, Sardar Ibrar Khan and Mrs Shamim Haider.
Later at a function in Islamabad the party president Sardar Attique Ahmad
Khan clarifying his position had said that the tickets were distributed
after thorough consideration and consultations with the AJK Premier Sardar
Sikander Hayat Khan and Parton-in-Chief Sardar Abdul Qayyum Khan.
‘Only merit and attachment with the party’ formed the basis of allotment of
tickets to the candidates. Inside sources indicated that behind the screen
negotiations of the rebel group with their party would ultimately succeed in
a happy rapprochement soon.
‘It is not for the first time that such disagreement of opinion has appeared
on the surface. In political parties such differences are bound to emerge
but there are always forces within the party to make a patch-up’, the same
sources said.
The party chief Sardar Attique Ahmad Khan, had on Thursday night function in
Islamababad sounded quite conciliatory when presspersons asked whether the
party would consider ousting/suspending the rebel. group.
‘We do not believe in such ouster actions. Ours is a political party having
deep roots in history. Every one of us is fully conscious of his/her and
party’s role. We are all subscribers to the same ideology.
Why should we need to oust any of our members from party fold’, he
explained. Hectic efforts are going on for a patch-up.●
