Economy Class Fare of Trains Reduced by Rs
50 in Pakistan

LAHORE: Federal Minister
for Railways Sheikh Rashid has announced the reduction in economic class
fare of trains by Rs 50.
This reduction in fare for trains operating on Karachi route will be
effective from June 11, he said while addressing a press conference here at
the office Railway Divisional Superintendent.
Chairman Pakistan Railways Shakeel Durani and General Manger
Saleem-ur-Rehman were present in the press conference.
Five tenders have been issued for double railway track from Lahore to
Karachi, he said, adding that the target for completion of Lahore-Karachi
railway track was fixed as June 30, 2007.
The circular train serve will be started in eight big cities including
Karachi, Hyderabad, Multan, Quetta, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Islamabad and
Peshawar with in a year, he informed.
A summary has been forwarded to the Prime Minister for purchase of new 36
rail engines whereas 80 engines out of 112 had been made operational and 400
economy wagons were being converted into AC Parlor Wagons, Sheikh Rahsid
said.●
