Ali Mohammad Orakzai to be new Governor of
NWFP

PESHAWAR: The government
has decided to appoint former corps commander of Peshawar Lt. Gen. Ali
Mohammad Jan Orakzai as the new governor of NWFP, sources here said.
The outgoing governor of the province Commander Khali-ur-Rehman will
takeover new responsibilities at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat,
Islamabad.
An earlier report said that the Central Executive Committee of ruling PML on
Monday endorsed former Corps Commander Peshawar Lt. Gen. (Retd) Ali Mohammad
Jan Orakzai to appoint him as new Governor NWFP.
The meeting, chaired by PML chief Ch. Shujat Hussain, was also attended by
Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.
The party’s top leadership discussed the NWFP governor issue before start of
the CEC meeting, the sources said. However, a notification for the
appointment of new governor is expected today.
According to the sources, outgoing NWFP Governor Khalil ur Rehman may be
given some new responsibility with Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in the
Centre.
Those who attended the CEC meeting included Gohar Ayub, Lt. Gen. (Retd)
Majid Malik, Mian Manzoor Ahmed Wattoo, Dr. Khalid Zakori, Engr. Amir Muqam,
Salim Saifullah Khan, Mohammad Ali Durrani, Tariq Azeem and Ms Sumera Malik.●
