Identification parade of sex accused
deferred in India held-Kashmir
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk
SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied
Kashmir, despite strict directions from High Court for identification parade
of 56 accused in the sexual abuse case, the CBI has deferred the exercise
for a few days.
A top official source said the parade of 56 accused, identified by Yasmeena,
a minor victim, and the sex scandal kingpin Sabeena, which include
politicians, top bureaucrats, police and paramilitary officials has been
deferred on the pretext that the whole official machinery is busy with
arrangements for second roundtable conference.
"The summons to the accused who have been named by Yasmeena and Sabeena in
their statements to the Indian intelligence agency CBI are yet to be
dispatched," the source told media.
A division bench of the High Court had directed the CBI team on Friday to
hold an I-parade of the accused in presence of a magistrate by Tuesday.
Any one identified during the parade had to be detained on the spot, the
court had ruled.
Kashmir High Court Bar Association president Mian Abdul Qayoom said, "They
(CBI) can seek further time from the court. But they have to give reasons
for that." ●
