Srinagar turned into military Cantt: APHC

SRINAGAR (IHK): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that Srinagar has been turned into military cantonment ahead of the Indian Prime Minister's two day visit to the city, beginning tomorrow, reports KMS.

The APHC spokesman, in a statement today said, the Indian troops have increased manifold checking, frisking and indiscriminate arrests, which has made life of the people miserable.

The spokesman also pointed out that Indian troops in Mujahideen's guise last night made an attempt to carry out massacre of Kashmiri Pandits at Wahebugh in Pulwama district.

However, this got frustrated when Jammu and Kashmir police personnel succeeded in capturing them and identifying them as troops belonging to Rashtriya Rifles. He said, this Is yet another proof that the Indian troops in disguise, periodically kill, members of the non-Muslim communities to malign the liberation movement.

The President of the Democratic Freedom Party, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, speaking at the meeting of the Executive Committee of his party in Srinagar, denounced Indian army's plans of occupying privately owned vast areas on various pretexts.

Unidentified gunmen killed one person each in Srinagar and Bhaderwah areas. One person was killed and 15, including 6 troops, injured at two blasts in separate places in Srinagar.

Eight policemen were injured when a speedy army vehicle of 30-Rashtriya Rifles deliberately hit a Police jeep at Handwara in Kupwara district.

And in New York, prominent Indian writer Arundhati Roy, speaking at a function, strongly contradicted Indian rulers boasts of democracy and said that in Kashmir alone, India had deployed seven hundred thousand troops, who have killed 80,000 innocent people.●
