54 passengers cross LoC aboard
peace bus in Kashmir
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk
SRINAGAR (IHK): A total of
54 passengers, including 23 residents of Azad Jammu Kashmir, crossed the
‘Aman Sethu’ from either side as the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus rolled again
today.
While 41 people—25 new passengers and 16 residents of AJK who were returning
after meeting their relatives—boarded the State Road Transport Corporation
bus, named ‘Carvan-e-Aman (peace caravan), from this side (IOK), 13
passengers, including six who were returning, came from across the LoC,
official sources said.
The fortnightly bus service left Held Srinagar with only 10 passengers this
morning and the rest boarded it enroute to the Kaman Post, the last point
this side, the sources said.
The bus service started in April last year but the devastating earthquake in
October badly affected its operations for several months with the number of
passengers coming down drastically.●
