Three more US aircraft bring
relief goods for Quake-hit Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Three more US
military cargo aircrafts brought here another 245 tons of humanitarian
assistance for the earthquake relief operations.
The planes brought US military supplies, comprising tents, blankets, pillows
and food for the earthquake survivors in Azad Kashmir and the NWFP.
The US military supplies came from the Tracy Defence Depot, Tracy,
California, and New Cumberland Defence Depot, New Cumberland, Pennsylvania.
The supplies were trucked to Travis Air Force Base, California and McGuire
Air Force Base, New Jersey where they were loaded onto the cargo aircraft.
Meanwhile, the United Nations development programme has started its project
to provide shelter to 30,000 families in quake-hit areas.
The UNDP say, dozens of temporary camps have been set up in Neelum village
near Muzaffarabad and brick houses are also under construction in this area.
UNDP administrator Kamal Dervesh met President Musharraf and assured him of
maximum cooperation in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the quake
victims.
He hoped that the international community would extend support to Pakistan
in donorsí conference.
Meanwhile, the Government High School Nauthen and a commission agent of
local ‘Sabzi Mandi’ in district Hafizabad have arranged one truck each of
relief goods for quake victims of Azad Kashmir and NWFP.
While dispatching the goods, DCO Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah thanked students
and staff of Government High School Nauthen and Haji Muhammad Anwar,
commission agent, for providing relief material for quake victims.
He appealed to the public to continue to provide relief material for quake
survivors in AJK & NWFP.
He said that more than 200 trucks containing tents, blankets, rice, flour,
milk, ghee, etc have already been dispatched to the quake-hit areas from the
district.●
