PCB Whites beat Greens to win
practice match in Punjab

LAHORE: PCB Whites won the
practice match against PCB Greens by six wickets on the thrid and last day
here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Sunday.
Given 45 overs each to complete the match, PCB Whites completed the given
target of 167 runs by scoring 168 for four in 36.4 overs.
Resuming their overnight innings at 30 for two in 8.5 overs, PCB Greens
piled up 157 runs and having nine runs first innings lead they gave an easy
target to Whites, which they surpassed with little scare.
Greens overnight batsmen Yasir Hameed and Salman Butt made 38 and 25 runs
respectively. Greens got little support from Asim Kamal (21) while rest of
their batsmen failed to come up to the expectation.
Irshad and Najaf Shah who took one wicket each on day two, remained
wicket-less. Riaz Afridi and Arshad Khan shared two wickets each for seven
and 25 runs respectively while Yasir Ali had one.
Chasing the target, Whites has early scare when they lost their openers for
45 but not before healthy 31 from Taufeeq Umer.
Faisal Athar before falling leg before wicket to Muhammad Khalil made 21.
But the main match-winning innings was played by Misbah-ul-Haq and Faisal
Iqbal, who scored unbeaten century in the first innings. Misbah (46) and
Faisal (35) also shared 66 runs for the unbeaten fifth wicket.
Umer Gul gaining form after fitness took two more wickets as he had three in
the first innings while one each went Shahid Nazir and Muhammad Khalil way.
