Pakistan Peoples Party constitutes body to stop rigging

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentarian has constituted a special committee under the convenorship of Zumarad Khan MNA to monitor the upcoming local bodies polls in Rawalpindi district.

The committee will take measures to stop rigging in the election and will look into the complaints received from the candidates of “Awam Dost Group” The other members of the committee include Sardar Saleem, Qazi Sultan Mehmood,Haji Saleem Mughal and Chudhary Asad Pervaiz.

On the level of each union council three separate monitoring committees would also function including lawyers to assist monitoring committee.

According to sources a party meeting was held here on Sunday in which senior leadership, members of assemblies and election board participated.

In the meeting senior party leader Ms Naheed Khan took serious notice about some complaints regarding breach of party discipline in some constituencies of Rawalpindi and instructed City President to take severe action against the elements who did not care about discipline.

While addressing to meeting Ms Naheed Khan and MNA Zumarad Khan have said that the government broke all the records of rigging in the first phase of local bodies election held on 18th instant.

“The ruling Muslim League not only frightened the voters but also kidnapped candidates and political workers including ladies. They also changed election results in the darkness of night”, the Party leaders added.

They warned the government to affirm from rigging otherwise the ruling Muslim League would be responsible for poor situation.

The Party leadership also re-iterated to prevent the rigging on 25th August by force.

In the meeting MNA Fouzia Habib, MPAs Amir Fida Paracha, Ishtiaq Mirza, and other leaders of PPP participated.●
