Norway fully supports Pakistan's stand on
Kashmir

OSLO (Norway): The Foreign
Secretary of Norway Ms Fylvi Graham has supported Pakistan’s stance on
Kashmir and said that immediate just solution of Kashmir issue should be
sought to ensure lasting peace in South Asia and alleviating poverty among
1.50 billion peoples of the South Asia region.
Ms Fylvi Graham expressed this pragmatic vision during a meeting with
Governor Punjab Lt. Gen. (Retd) Khalid Maqbool, who is here in connection
with Pakistan Day celebrations.
The Governor also elucidated significant aspects vis-a-vis the important
role being played by Pakistan in war against terrorism at international
level.
Pakistan, by taking into confidence SAARC countries and international
community, has adopted flexible policy towards India for solution of Kashmir
issue with an aim to ensuring that people of South Asia could move fast on
the road to progress and prosperity.
He said international community should play its role to bring an end to
atrocities and suppression by Indian occupation forces in Kashmir and
providing right of self-determination to Kashmiries as it is their basic
right.
Governor Khalid Maqbool in an interview with Norwegian Broadcasting Channel
spoke at length about the achievements of the government in fields of
Education, health, social and economic sector and protection of women
rights.
He said, “Sagacious economic policies introduced by President Pervez
Musharraf has made Pakistan an attractive country for foreign investment and
international community recognize that all economic indicators in Pakistan
are positive.”
Khalid Maqbool hoped that all governments of Scandinavian countries and
Pakistani community in Norway would avail the opportunity of conducive
environment for investment in Pakistan.
About the local government elections, he said President Musharraf is holding
Local Government elections for the second time in his tenure while in the
past those claiming themselves as champions of democracy had been putting
hurdles in the holding of these elections.
He said present government by holding these elections has promoted and
strengthened the process of transfer of power to grass root level.●
