Mega project for construction of milk plant in Punjab approved

LAHORE: The Punjab government has approved a grand project of establishing an international standard milk plant near Sambrial- Daska, with total cost of Rs. 250 million for catering the milk and dairy needs of the people and more than 50,000 livestock owners of Gujranwala region’s six Sialkot, Narowal, Gujrat, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad and Gujranwala districts under provincial government’s annual dairy development programme.

According to source, the provincial government has also allocated a special grant of Rs. 250 million for this project, which would soon be started.

As many as 500 milk collection centers would be established in the nearby urban and rural areas, besides, establishing more than 50 chillers (for chilling the collected milk), 50 cure centers in this milk plant’s jurisdiction, which would also be helpful to produce 2000 kgs of new seeds for fodder and 2000 bags of the feed for the livestock in this milk plant every month.

The 160 veterinary doctors and relevant staff and more than 600 non-skilled staff would also be appointed there.

All the advanced facilities would be provided to all the livestock owners through this proposed milk plant, enabling them to enhance their milk production on priority basis.●
