Farmers abandon villages due to Water Shortage

BAHAWALPUR: As many as 54 villages in tehsil Yazman are faced with dire shortage of irrigation water, due to which farmers have given up cultivation in the area.

According to Cholistan Development Authority, landless farmers who were allotted state land for cultivation are facing acute water scarcity.

A report about the situation in the villages has been submitted by a team constituted by the Managing Director Cholistan Development Authority, Maj Gen (r) Abdur Razzaque, comprising officials of agriculture, revenue and irrigation departments.●
