Gilani criticises Dixit's statement on Kashmir
Pakistan Times Kashmir Desk

SRINAGAR (Indian held-Kashmir): All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman Syed Ali Gilani terming India's National Security Advisor J.N. Dixit's statement as un-realistic and said that Kashmir issue should be decided through plebiscite.

J.N. Dixit, ahead of Indo-Pak Foreign Ministers talks in New Delhi had said that the issue of Kashmir should not hold people of the South Asia hostage and the two countries should proceed with furthering economic relations.

APHC Chairman while addressing a big public meeting at Yaripora in Kulgam referred to the pledges made by India's founding Prime Minister Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru."

He is on record to have said that India will allow plebiscite in Kashmir and Kashimiris' vote in India's favour or against will be accepted although the latter is painful," Gilani quoted Pandit Nehru.

Kashmiris favour peace but it cannot be achieved by putting Kashmir issue in the cold storage. "We are Muslims who are taught the worship of God and friendship among humanity", he said.

Gilani emphasised Kashmiris are fighting for their right for the last 57 years. "We have raised our voice against oppression, otherwise we have no enmity with India", he said.

Referring to the statement of the European Union on Kashmir, he said, the world is gradually accepting the stand of Kashmiris. A Hurriyat spokesman said, Syed Gilani, was accompanied by Hurriyat leader Ghulam Nabi Sumji, Shiekh Ali Mohammad, Malik Noor Fayaz and others.●
