SRINAGAR (Indian
held-Kashmir): In occupied Kashmir, massive protests were held in Daindi
area of Kishtwar in district Doda against the molestation of three girls in
the area by the army.
During a crack down of the area the soldiers of 25 Rashtriya Rifles had
molested three girls when all the male villagers were gathered in the nearby
fields for the so-called identification parade.
When the soldiers raided houses, three girls namely (F) d/o Ghulam Muhammad
Malik, (A) d/o Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din and (N) d/o Ali Muhammad were molested.
Hearing the cries the village men broke the cordon and rushed to the spot
and staged a protest demonstration.
Killing of civilian by police vehicle sparks protests
Hundreds of people staged strong protest against police at Pathukha in
Baramulla, when a police vehicle hit a person killing him on the spot.
The killed person has been identified as Muhammad Sultan Hajam son of
Muhammad Jamal of Pathukha. The vehicle after hitting Muhammad Sultan turned
turtle injuring four police personnel who were on board.
After the incident, residents came out and blocked Srinagar-Baramulla road
for several hours. The protesters said that the vehicle was with DIG
Baramulla's cavalcade.
Furious Zadibal residents stone police
And several police officials including SP Hazratbal were injured and puppet
Finance Minister, Muzaffar Baig had a narrow escape when the residents of
Zadibal in Srinagar, pelted stones on them.
The residents nearly lynched the SHO Zadibal, who was rescued by the police
after firing scores of shots in the air. The residents were furious over
Friday's incident when police used brute force to quell the peaceful
protests. Residents said police on Friday night had entered into their
houses ransacking furniture and misbehaving with womenfolk.
Puppet Finance Minister visited the area to take stock of the situation.
After doing round of the area, he was bracing to address a congregation of
local residents who were demanding action against the SHO, whom they
described main culprit behind Friday's loot and arson.
Eyewitnesses said before Baig could begin his speech, the accused SHO
Zadibal reached the spot. On seeing him, people who were seething with anger
pounced upon him and nearly lynched him. They pelted stones on the police
contingent there injuring SP Hazratbal, SDPO Hazratbal, SHO Lal Bazar, SHO
Zakura and several other police personnel. Police rescued SHO Zadibal after
firing hundreds of shots in the air.
The puppet Finance Minister Muzaffar Hussain Baig and divisional
commissioner were whisked away by the police amid the din of bullet shots.●
