Fifteen Killed, 23 Injured in Pakistan Road Mishaps

SIALKOT: At least five persons were killed and 22others injured in separate traffic accidents in Sialkot district on Saturday morning.

In the first road mishap at Sialkot-Uggoki road near Marala Ravi Link Canal, an overspeeding bus (LHP 3686) overturned after hitting a road-side electric pole.

As a result three persons Faisal, Khalid Mehmud and Shafique were killed on the spot while eleven others received injuries.

The injured included Abdul Waqas, Javed Iqbal, Muhammad Asghar, Masood, Tasawar Ishaq, Muhamamd Saeed, Qamar Shakeel, Syed Sada Hussain, Muhamamd Khaliq, Naseen and an unidentified person.

The bus was coming from Wazirabad to Sialkot.

In another road accident at Daska-Sambrial road near Firdous colony, a coaster (LHJ 8933), coming from Daska to Sambrial, overturned in a bid to save a horse.

As a result Muhamamd Irfan and Qaiser Mehmud were killed on the spot while eleven people, including Abdul Jalil, Waris, Anwar, Baber Shah, Imran, Asghar and four unidentified people sustained injuries.

Car Accident Kills 4 of Family in Sheikhupura

Another report says that four people were killed and as many of the same family were injured in a car crash at Rakh Machike near here in the wee hours Saturday.

The family was returning home to Mianwali from Lahore in a car when the driver apparently dosed off and the car rammed into an oil tanker parked on the roadside, said police sources.

Shah Nawaz his wife Musarat, and son Umair (6) died on the spot, while the injured Imtiaz, his wife Rukhsana son Usman (1), daughter Kinza (2), and car driver Babar were rushed in critical condition to the DHQ hospital Sheikhupura, where the latter also succumbed to his injuries.

The car was badly smashed in the accident, and the injured as well as the dead had to be pulled out after cutting parts of the car body.

Three Killed in Gujranwala


Three persons were killed in a head on collision between a truck and a van on GT road near Wazirabad by-pass intersection on Friday night.

Police said, the truck PRX-186 was on its way to Gujrat from Gujranwala when it collided with a fruit laden van coming from opposite direction near By-pass
intersection.

Van driver Zaharey Khan and two fruit traders Gul Badshah Khan and Marwat Khan died on the spot.

The bodies were sent to THQ civil hospital for autopsy.

Police have registered the case against absconding truck driver and are investigating.

Three Die in Khanpur


And in Khanpur, another three persons were killed while another received serious injuries when a commuter wagon collided with a tractor trolley on National Highway, some 30 kilometres off here Friday night.

Motorway police says that the wagon no. MNA-3165 was heading towards Rahim Yar Khan after dropping a marriage party at Sardar Garh.

On the way, two passengers- Rashid Ahmed and Munir Ahmed Dasti boarded the wagon. When the wagon reached near Mianwali Qureshian its driver lost the control and it collided with the tractor trolley loaded with woods.

As a result, Shahid Jatoi, Rashid Ahmed and Munir Ahmed Dasti died on the spot while wagon conductor Riaz wounded grievously. The injured was rushed to BHU Mianwali Qureshian from where he was shifted to Sheikh Zayed Hospital Rahim Yar Khan.●
